Transform Your Phone Case In Minutes

final comparison

O.K.  I was ready to get rid of my old phone case because it was in pretty bad shape.  Here’s a great tutorial to custom design your own phone case and get the look that you want.  All you need is a fine point Sharpie marker and that’s it.

Here is the phone case.  Yes, it is very beat up and dirty.  The first thing I did was to scrub my phone case with some Soft Scrub to remove all of the dirt.

phone case1I started off my design by creating a flower and a sun.  These are actually called Zentangles.  If your not familiar with Zentangles, they are a way of creating beautiful images from structured patterns.  Check out the fascinating Zentangles by googling the word Zentangles.

For my phone case, I continued to repeat various patterns throughout the surface of the case.  It really didn’t take long at all.  The best part of it all is you end up with a one of a kind phone case that expresses your personality and no one will have it.

I saw this idea on Google Plus right after I ordered a hard case for my new cell phone to do just this to it. I got the case, grabbed my Sharpies and drew on it while watching TV. That night after using my phone I noticed my hands were blue. I guess I should have used a fixative over the drawing, even though Sharpies are not suppose to rub off like that.
Can you tell me what kind of material your cell phone cover was made of?

      Hi Becky,
My case was the hard rubber like material. For the slick hard cases, I would use a clear spray paint finish to seal the permanent marker. Try that and let me know how it works!

Thank you, Melanie. I’ll check and see if I have any. I know I have artists workable fixative spray. That should work, but not sure how long it will last. I have purchased clear spray paint or poly in the past, so I’ll check to see if I have any. I’ve not gotten into any of that yet this season. ~BC <

You did a beautiful job! My phone case is looking scruffy and I was thinking of getting a new one, but now I believe I’ll try your method!

Thank you for partying with the Wildly Original Crowd.
