During the holidays, my family loves to bake all kinds of wonderful treats. I remember as a child, going over to my Grandmother’s and making tons of Christmas cookies. I would also bake cookies with my Mom, and then my sister and I would decorate them. I still to this day, have fond memories of all the different treats that we would make and how much fun it was. I love continuing this tradition with my family. Every Holiday season, we choose a few types of traditional Holiday treats to make, but we also decide to try a new recipe. Well this year, we not only decided to try a new Holiday treat recipe, but we actually chose to make our very own!

One of the cookies we always make this time of year is the Peanut Butter Blossoms, because they are my husband’s favorite. When he eats them, the first thing he does is take the chocolate Hershey’s Kisses off the top, eat the cookie and save the Hershey’s Kiss for last. Well, it so happens that my oldest daughter eats hers the same way… because they both love the chocolate so much. Well, this became my inspiration… come up with a new family Holiday Treat that centers itself around delicious chocolate, and the iconic Hershey’s Kisses chocolates.

In order to satisfy my chocolate loving family, I decided to go all out with this recipe by incorporating three different types of Hershey’s chocolates. I used Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint candies, Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate candies in festive foils and Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Chips!

I call my treats the…

Miniature Hershey’s Kisses Christmas Trees

  • Hershey’s KissesCandy Cane Mint Candies
  • Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate candies (for melting & dipping)
  • Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Chips
  • Paraffin Wax
  • Miniature Sandwich Creme Cookies (they get covered)
  • Cute Little Candy Snowflakes (Optional)

Step 1: Unwrap the Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint chocolates and set them aside. Keep a close eye on these… if you have little kid (or husband) helpers like I did, quite a few of these seem to disappear. Next, unwrap the Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate candies and put them in a heat resistant glass bowl.

Step 2: Put water in a pot and place the heat resistant glass bowl with the Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate candies on top. Add a small amount of paraffin wax to help the chocolate to melt smoothly and not harden a little too quickly. Bring the water to a boil and let the steam heat the bottom of the bowl and melt the chocolate. Be sure to stir frequently with a silicone spatula.

Step 3: Once the chocolate is melted, take a fork and dip your mini-sandwich cookie (one at a time) into the chocolate. Place the chocolate covered cookies onto a baking sheet with wax paper and let them begin to cool. These are the bases for your Christmas Tree treats.

Step 4: Take a chocolate chip and using a butter knife that has been dipped in the hot water, lay it across the chip to flatten and melt the top of it. While the top of the chip is still melted, take it and press it onto the center of the bottom of the Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint chocolates. Hold for a second until the chips and Kisses are fused together.

This piece is your Tree and it’s little Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Chip trunk!

Step 5: Check to make sure your chocolate covered cookies are setting up, but before they completely harden, take the Tree piece and set it onto the base. Then let the pieces cool completely and the chocolate harden. (about 15 min. +/- depending on room temperature)

Step 6- Optional: If you want to add the cute candy snowflakes, dip your butter knife back into the hot water. Take the knife and melt the top of the Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint chocolates and stick the snowflake on before the chocolate hardens.

Mini Tassel Stretch Bracelet

I originally shared this post with Darice.  With summer in full swing, who doesn’t love to wear lots of different jewelry while sporting a really nice tan?  I know I love to wear jewelry and jewelry that’s fun too.  For this project, I thought why not combine bracelets with some mini tassels for a really cute summer look?  This is a fun tutorial because the bracelet comes together in no time and with the tassels, you can customize the bracelet to coordinate with anything in your wardrobe. Let’s get started and see just how easy it is to create this fun DIY tassel bracelet.

Step 1. Cut about 9″ to 10″ of stretch cord and thread the entire 7″ strand of beads.

Step 2. Once all of the beads are on the cord, tie three or four knots in the elastic cording.  Apply a little super glue on the knots so they don’t come untied.  Let the glue dry.

Step 3. To create the mini DIY tassel, cut a 1″ to 1 1/4″ piece of cardboard.  Cut two slits.  One in the middle of the top and bottom as shown.

Step 4. Wrap the embroidery floss around the piece of cardboard 4 to 5 times and then carefully remove the tassel from the cardboard.  You may have to bend the cardboard a little bit to remove the floss, so make sure your piece of cardboard is flexible.

Step 5. Tie a contrasting piece of embroidery floss around the DIY tassel to secure it.  Do this a couple of times.  Trim the excess thread.  You may also want to secure the thread by putting a little dab of super glue onto the knot as well.

Step 6. Open the jump ring using the round nose pliers.  Slip the top of the tassel through the jump ring and leave it open.

Step 7. Hook the DIY tassel with the jump ring onto the bracelet and close the jump ring using the round nose pliers.

I think you’ll agree that this is a quick way to create a fun DIY tassel bracelet that you can customize to match any summer outfit!

Mini Felt Mother’s Day Wreaths

Mini-Mother's-Day-Wreath-Artzy Creations

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and I absolutely love it when my daughters make me something for Mother’s Day.¬† I have always loved hand made gifts because they come from the heart.¬† Well, this year, my daughters wanted to create something a little bit different than the traditional card. ¬†So, we came up with the idea together to create these Mini Felt Mother’s Day Wreaths and they turned out adorable.

Supplies Needed:

  • 16″ Gauge Aluminum Wire
  • Wire Cutters
  • 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Various Colors of Felt
  • Tacky Glue

Step 1: ¬†Cut the aluminum wire so it measures roughly 13″ to 14″. ¬†Bend and wrap it together so it forms a mini circular wreath. ¬†You can customize this to any size you would like.

Step 2: ¬†Hot glue the green grosgrain ribbon in place at the top of the wreath and wrap it tightly around the wire. ¬†Once you’ve finished wrapping the ribbon around the entire wreath, hot glue it again in place.

Step 3:  Cut out mini felt leaves and wrap them onto the wire as shown above.

Step 4:  If your child has a hard time cutting flower shapes out of felt, have them draw the shapes onto the felt or use pattern.  Cut out all various shapes and sizes of flowers out of felt.  When getting ready to glue, look at the pieces and if you have any marker or pencil marks from drawing out the felt flowers, just flip them over before gluing in place.  Use tacky glue to glue the pieces together.

Here’s and example of one of the flowers that was tacky glued along the bottom and then rolled up. ¬†The others were just layered.

Step 5:  Cut out the the letters for Mom and the two hearts for the O.
