DIY Gold Beaded Hoops

final image_1

Here’s a really easy jewelry tutorial for a great looking pair of beaded hoops. These are fun and so versatile that they will go with any outfit.  If you’re looking for an easy DIY jewelry project, this is the one for you.  I found these perfect beautifully hand crafted beads from Ethiopia on the  Happy Mango Beads site.  If you have never checked out this bead website,  you should.  They have a great selection of unique one of a kind beads that are hard to find.

Here’s What You Need:

  • Gauge Wire
  • Ethiopian Brass Beads ( From Happy Mango Beads or you can use any gold colored type of bead.)
  •  Wire Cutters
  • Needle Nose Pliers

Step 1:  Cut the wire to roughly eight inches.

Step 2:  Take the wire and bend it into a hoop.

Step 3:  Create a loop on one end and leave part of the wire hanging down.  On the other side, bend the wire.  After you have done this, on the side with the loop, fit the end of the wire down into the beads to disguise the end.

Step 4:  Push all of the beads together to make sure there is no gap in the wire as you are getting ready to tighten the hoop.  Wire wrap the long end of the wire at least three times and then trim it with the wire cutters.  When you trim the wire, make sure the end is to the back.  This will make for a much more finished look.  Attach the ear wires by opening them and attaching the hoops onto them.

I made another pair of earrings today that I wanted to share with you.  They are quick and simple.  They took about 10 minutes to make.  The hardest part was deciding which beads to use for the actual earrings.

Here’s what you need:

  • 4mm Swarovski Clear Beads
  • 4 Silver Findings
  • 2 Head Pins (I used the ones with a little bead at the bottom.)
  • 2 Earring Wires

Taking two round nose pliers, hold the loop of the earring with one set of pliers and use the other ones to wrap the wire around for two to three times.  Trim off excess wire with a pair of wire cutters.  Squeeze the end of the wire to incorporate into the rest of the wire wrapping.

Here’s a very simple tutorial for a pair of stunning earrings.  These earrings honestly took me about 10 minutes to put together.  They are really that simple.

Here’s what you need:

  • 2 Large Oval Turquoise Stone Beads (They have a great selection at Fire Mountain Gems.)
  • (2) 2″ Sterling Head Pins (I used ones that have a decorative bead at the bottom.)
  • 4 Silver Findings
  • 4 Czech Crystal Bluish/Green Beads
  • 2 Earring Wires (I chose wires that are a little longer to help balance out the weight of the earring.)
  • 2 Pairs of Round Nose Pliers

Step #1:

beads on the head pin

Thread the beads onto the headpin in the order shown.

Step #2:

head pin bent

Bend the head pin to a ninety degree angle.

Step #3:

wrapping the earwire

Bend the head pin wire back on itself to make a loop as shown above. Take a pair of the round nose pliers and clamp down on the loop.  Wrap the wire around the head pin with another pair of round nose pliers.

Step #4:

opened ear wire

Using the round nose pliers, open up the earring wire.  Loop the eye of the beaded headpin through the loop of the earring wire.  Close the earring wire with the round nose pliers.
