This post was originally created for Darice. Fall has arrived and before you know it, Thanksgiving will be here. I absolutely love this time of the year. Well, in order to help celebrate, I’m sharing this very easy DIY Thanksgiving decor tutorial showing you how to make your own Give Thanks sign. Plus, I’ve included a free cut file.
For this DIY Thanksgiving decor I wanted to create a sign that is pretty versatile and a little different from your traditional Thanksgiving colors. I love the splash of floral and the pop of glitter that this sign gives.
DIY THANKSGIVING DECOR SIGN SUPPLIES:
- Darice 12 x 12 Unfinished Wood Wall Panel
- 2 Pieces of Scrapbook Paper (One for your background and one for the lettering).
- Darice Studio 71 Paint Brush.
- Darice Foam Brush.
- Darice Studio 71 Paints (To coordinate with your scrapbook paper background).
- X-ACTO Knife.
- Matt Mod Podge.
- Give Thanks Cut File.
Step 1. Mix the acrylic paint for your DIY Thanksgiving decor to match the color of the scrapbook paper that you have chosen to use.
Step 2. Paint all four sides of the wall panel and let it dry.
Step 3. Apply Mod Podge to the top of the panel. Rub the paper down with both hands. Let this dry.
Step 4. Apply Mod Podge to the top of the scrapbook paper. Make sure to brush on the Mod Podge going in one direction.
Step 5. Cut the “Give Thanks” out on a cut machine. Apply Mod Podge to the back side only of the cut out letters.
This Give Thanks sign is really a perfect reminder that you can leave up all year long. I love how easy these are to make. I think I might just have to make a few of these up as gifts for Thanksgiving or for the holidays.
