Anthro Inspired Flannel Wrapped Bracelets

Flannel, also known as Tartan Plaid is in again this fall/winter season.  I thought,  what better way to incorporate it into my wardrobe than making some bracelets that will easily accessorize any look, whether casual or dressy?  My inspiration was Anthropologie and all of the various fabric wrapped bracelets that they’ve shown lately.  This DIY wrap bracelet is very easy to make, even if you’re a beginner.  I like the fact that not only are they easy, but you can quickly create them.  By the way, these would also make great gifts for friends and family for the upcoming holidays.

Step 1:  Measure out the chain to roughly 16″.  You will want enough chain to wrap twice around your wrist and still overlap while it is twisted.  When you measure, if you feel this is not enough length, go ahead and an extra chain link or two. Also, if it ends up a little short, you can always add an extra jump ring or two for additional length.

Step 2:  Cut your piece of flannel to roughly 1/2″ in thickness by 36″ in length.  It’s always good to have extra, especially because your tying some knots and wrapping the flannel.  Next, tie a knot at the beginning of the chain.

Step 3:  Wrap the fabric through each link of the chain.  As you’re feeding the fabric through each link be cautious of how you’re wrapping it and try and minimize the fabrics fraying as best as you can.  It will fray a little bit, but I think this adds to the look of the bracelet.

Step 4:  Using the round nose pliers, open the 10mm jump ring and attach another one to it.  Loop the two jump rings to the last link of the bracelet (the one that has the knot in it -as pictured above.) Next, open a 7 mm jump ring and loop the lobster claw clasp into it. Before linking and closing the 7mm ring, insert  the 10 mm ring, and now go ahead and close it. Repeat this process on the other end of the bracelet except you won’t need to add a clasp.  If you find you need more length, add another jump ring or two.  It’s really pretty easy to adjust the length to where you need it.
