Shamrock Barrettes

Final image copy

I try to make something for my girls for each of the holidays and wanted to make them something for St. Patrick’s Day.  Here’s a super easy tutorial for shamrock barrettes that take no time to make if your looking for something easy.

Here’s what you need:

supplies for barrettes

  • Fimo (Green)
  • Mini Cutters (These I found in the Fimo section in Michaels)
  • Acrylic Roller
  • Barrettes (These are the ones with the pads.)
  • E6000 Epoxy

Roll out the Fimo on a clean surface.  Fimo will pick anything and everything up so be very careful that your surface is clean.

fimo with cutter Take the mini cutter and just cut the Fimo as you would cookie dough.  These mini cutters were extremely long.  I found that getting the actual shamrock shape was kinda difficult.  Here’s what I did.  Take a Q-tip and very carefully press on the shamrock till it is removed.  You may end up with little marks on it.  Take the center of the Q-tip and use it to smooth out the shamrock.  Place   each of the shamrock in an oven proof pan and bake at 230 degrees for 30 minutes.  Remove and let them cool.  Take a little E6000 and place it on the pad.  Press the shamrock down and let dry.  It’s that easy.
