I’ve been an art teacher for the past eighteen years now, so I am always creating or making some sort of project in our household.  I love that my kids see me creating different types of art and want to create art as well.  They will often go and grab their art supplies when they see that I have mine out.  Most of the time though, they don’t even wait for me.  They just grab their materials and start creating.  However, we all know that with creating and making wonderful art projects, it often times ends up making a big mess.   Well, over the years, I have gotten the clean up part down pat and what I’ve figured out, is that what you need is something that’s quick and easy that makes clean up a breeze. That’s why I love the convenience of Wet Naps. I pick up a ton of these at Walmart, and when we have an art project, I set the package of Wet Naps out for my kids to use.  They can just grab them and clean up as needed.  This method  is also especially helpful if you have a kid that is a little more concerned when sticky things like glue get on their fingers.

Well, today, I’m sharing with you, one of those projects that has a tendency to be a little messy, but kids absolutely love it.  No need to worry and fuss about the mess when all you need is just a few Wet Naps for clean up and you’re done!   Let’s get started.

Step 1:  Remove the label from the 2-liter plastic bottle.  Cut the top part of the bottle off using scissors.

Step 2:  Cut the front part off of the 2-liter bottle and round the top edges.

Step 3:  Cut several small pieces of tissue paper to roughly  1″ x 1″.  Apply Mod Podge to the inside of the bottle and put strips of tissue paper onto the wet Mod Podge areas.  Go over the tissue paper with a layer of Mod Podge.  Let it dry.  If you are going to use this in an area that is more exposed to the elements, you may want to use a clear coat of spray paint, but because we plan to put ours under a VERY large Cedar tree, I decided not to seal it.

Step 4:  Cut a hole in the bottom, not far from lip using the scissors and insert the dowel rod. This is a little perch for your birds.  Use hot glue to secure the dowel rod in place. I used a little dab of hot glue on the inside.

Step 5:  Cut two holes at the top of the bottle / bird feeder.  Lace the bungee cord or twine through.  Put some bird seed into the feeder and hang in a branch or a small nail.

For the entire project, I laid down a few pieces of newspaper.  When clean up time came around, all I did was give my daughter a couple of Wet Naps to clean the Mod Podge off of her fingers and for everything else, I just folded up the newspaper and recycled it. Clean up was honestly that simple.

Wet Naps are nice because they’re really soft, and you can use them on your little ones hands and face.  Lily likes these because they’re really soft on the skin.
