Welcome to the 12 Days of Wrapping series. I’m going to share with you 12 creative ways I have come up with, to wrap your gifts over the holidays. I’m so excited about bringing you this series, and what a fun one too! I love wrapping and all of the endless possibilities.
I Hope you enjoy!
Here’s what you will need:
- Black Craft Paper
- Paint Pens (Fine Tip, Extra Fine Tip) Use these rather than chalk to prevent smudging
Here are the paint pens I used.
Begin by wrapping your gift with the black craft paper. Be sure that the seam ends up on the back or on a side, and not the face you plan to decorate.
Next, free hand your chalkboard lettering onto your wrapped package lightly in pencil . Add flourishes and designs where ever you want. If you aren’t comfortable free handing the lettering onto the package, you can print out a free chalkboard printable. Turn the copy over and rub pencil over the back of the copy. Flip the printable over so it is right side up. Tack the printable in place with pieces of painters tape that can easily be removed when finished. Now, trace over the lettering with a pencil. Your design will come out onto the black paper (a’ la old school carbon paper).
Using your paint markers, trace over your pencil outlines. In some areas, fill in or go over the lettering & design several times to build up the paint until you achieve the chalkboard effect.
That’s all there is to it! An easy way to create your own personalized chalk board wrapping paper that will make any gift extra special.
