During the holidays, my family loves to bake all kinds of wonderful treats. I remember as a child, going over to my Grandmother’s and making tons of Christmas cookies. I would also bake cookies with my Mom, and then my sister and I would decorate them. I still to this day, have fond memories of all the different treats that we would make and how much fun it was. I love continuing this tradition with my family. Every Holiday season, we choose a few types of traditional Holiday treats to make, but we also decide to try a new recipe. Well this year, we not only decided to try a new Holiday treat recipe, but we actually chose to make our very own!

One of the cookies we always make this time of year is the Peanut Butter Blossoms, because they are my husband’s favorite. When he eats them, the first thing he does is take the chocolate Hershey’s Kisses off the top, eat the cookie and save the Hershey’s Kiss for last. Well, it so happens that my oldest daughter eats hers the same way… because they both love the chocolate so much. Well, this became my inspiration… come up with a new family Holiday Treat that centers itself around delicious chocolate, and the iconic Hershey’s Kisses chocolates.

photo Minature-Hesheys-Christmas-Trees-Artzy Creations 2_zpslvxmqhzl.jpg

In order to satisfy my chocolate loving family, I decided to go all out with this recipe by incorporating three different types of Hershey’s chocolates. I used Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint candies, Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate candies in festive foils and Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Chips!

I call my treats the…

Miniature Hershey’s Kisses Christmas Trees

 • Hershey’s KissesCandy Cane Mint Candies
 • Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate candies (for melting & dipping)
 • Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Chips
 • Paraffin Wax
 • Miniature Sandwich Creme Cookies (they get covered)
 • Cute Little Candy Snowflakes (Optional)

Step 1: Unwrap the Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint chocolates and set them aside. Keep a close eye on these… if you have little kid (or husband) helpers like I did, quite a few of these seem to disappear. Next, unwrap the Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate candies and put them in a heat resistant glass bowl.

Step 2: Put water in a pot and place the heat resistant glass bowl with the Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolate candies on top. Add a small amount of paraffin wax to help the chocolate to melt smoothly and not harden a little too quickly. Bring the water to a boil and let the steam heat the bottom of the bowl and melt the chocolate. Be sure to stir frequently with a silicone spatula.

Step 3: Once the chocolate is melted, take a fork and dip your mini-sandwich cookie (one at a time) into the chocolate. Place the chocolate covered cookies onto a baking sheet with wax paper and let them begin to cool. These are the bases for your Christmas Tree treats.

photo Minature-Hesheys-Christmas-Trees-Artzy Creations 4_zpssxdbmkfe.jpg

Step 4: Take a chocolate chip and using a butter knife that has been dipped in the hot water, lay it across the chip to flatten and melt the top of it. While the top of the chip is still melted, take it and press it onto the center of the bottom of the Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint chocolates. Hold for a second until the chips and Kisses are fused together.

This piece is your Tree and it’s little Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Chip trunk!

photo Minature-Hesheys-Christmas-Trees-Artzy Creations 6_zpsu7yo0xbv.jpg

Step 5: Check to make sure your chocolate covered cookies are setting up, but before they completely harden, take the Tree piece and set it onto the base. Then let the pieces cool completely and the chocolate harden. (about 15 min. +/- depending on room temperature)

Step 6- Optional: If you want to add the cute candy snowflakes, dip your butter knife back into the hot water. Take the knife and melt the top of the Hershey’s Kisses Candy Cane Mint chocolates and stick the snowflake on before the chocolate hardens.

They taste absolutely delicious… the only problem is they are almost too CUTE to eat…

Sweet Thai Coconut Mango Sticky Rice Bites

Sometimes I act like a kid. And as a kid, I was a picky eater. I don‚Äôt like sushi. I try to like sushi. I just don‚Äôt. I can force myself to enjoy a few bites if I try real hard, but then, not a fan. Sushi lovers are always telling me I just haven’t been to the right sushi place. So I go with them. And manage a few not awful bites. And then it is over. My sushi loving friends also tell me I have not tried the right variety. Have you tried…? I try it; don’t love it. I feel a little Sam I Am-ish about sushi. With so many people telling me how good it is, there just has to be a way for me to like sushi.Sweet Thai Coconut Mango Sticky Rice Bites - This is a simplified recipe that has great flavor. Gluten Free and almost paleo! First time I had this I fell in love! Had to find a way to make it at home with easy to find ingredients. This is easy and delish!

Sweet Thai Coconut Mango Sticky Rice Bites are not sushi. I LOVE them! This is my all time favorite dessert for my friends who are gluten sensitivite, because it doesn’t taste like a version of something that normally has gluten. This sweet dessert tastes just like it should. Sweet Thai Coconut Mango Sticky Rice Bites are my kind of comfort food. These bite size desserts are a great way to get kids to try something new and expand their palate.

A friend of mine introduced me to this dessert and it was love at first bite. I have been looking for a super easy way to make it myself. Some recipes for this traditional thai dessert can be quite complicated. Not so here. This recipe is is so simple with ingredients that are easy to find and tastes amazing. Sweet Thai Coconut Mango Sticky Rice Bites - This is a simplified recipe that has great flavor. Gluten Free and almost paleo! First time I had this I fell in love! Had to find a way to make it at home with easy to find ingredients. This is easy and delish!

So I thought to my sushi adverse self, would I still like this dessert if it were in the form of sushi? I bought myself a sushi mold to test the theory. I know this is not traditional sushi. Thailand is not Japan. But putting Thai Coconut Mango Sticky Rice into a sushi mold made the perfect little bite!

Sweet Thai Coconut Mango Sticky Rice Bites - This is a simplified recipe that has great flavor. Gluten Free and almost paleo! First time I had this I fell in love! Had to find a way to make it at home with easy to find ingredients. This is easy and delish! So if you will let me call this sushi, then I like sushi! If you don’t think this counts, then I don’t like sushi. These sushi molds are the coolest thing! The little hole at the top lets you push the sushi right out perfectly formed.

The colors are beautiful! Don’t be afraid to experiment with different fruits. Berries or kiwi or banana would be some other kid favs. That might freak out those who know this traditional dessert well. It is ALWAYS served with mango! But then, I turned mine into sushi, so I am all about playing with you food. So I give you permission to get creative and serve it however your family will like it best. I like it best in my mouth.

If you’re a busy parent like myself with too many irons in the fire to keep track of,¬† you will love this simple yet fun Halloween treat.¬† This is perfect for those occasions where you have to put something together at the last minute for your son or daughters classroom or maybe you’re throwing a last minute Halloween party.¬† These One Eye Monster Brownie Bites are just thing.¬† The best part is… your kids will flip over them.

All this  recipe requires is a few simple things that you may already have in your house.  The only thing I had to go and get were the monster eyes, but they were pretty easy to find.

wilton eyes

They look like this and I even found them at my local grocery store.  The eyes can also be found at Walmart or Michaels.

So here’s all you need:

 • (1) Box of Brownie Mix
 • (2) Packages of Eyes
 • Small Cupcake Liners

Prepare the brownies in a small muffin tin.¬† Check them periodically so they don’t over cook.¬† When you pull the brownies out, let them cool for a few minutes and then insert the eyes on top.

Your kids will squeal over these.  Both my daughters took these in their lunches to school and they make for a fun lunch conversation.

Homemade Pear Apple Sauce

Homemade-Pear-Applesauce-Artzy Creations 1 copy

I love all things fall. ¬†Since we moved to the Pacific Northwest, I have also fallen in love with all of the¬†local¬†traditional fun fall activities. ¬†This year was the first year my family and I went to go pick apples. ¬†We had never been, and it was such a treat for us. Before you knew it we had more apples than we knew what to do with. ¬†It was hard not ¬†picking them all. ¬†Especially, for my six year old. ¬†She was going to town picking every apple possible. ¬†I don’t think I’ve ever spent so much money on just apples before. ¬†But, it was certainly worth it , besides, we even got to go on a hay ride! ¬†Fortunately though, I knew I could easily turn some of these apples into homemade apple sauce. ¬†But where do the pears come into play you ask? ¬†Well, my teacher friend at school just happened to grow his own pears. ¬†So, I not only had bags full of apples, but a huge box full of home grown pears. ¬†The perfect combo to create Homemade Pear Apples Sauce.

 • 5 to 6 Apples (A variety works best for good flavor.)
 • 3 to 4 Pears
 • 1/3 to 1/4 Cup of Sugar
 • Cinnamon and/or Nutmeg Optional

Step 1: ¬†Peel and slice up the apples (thin). ¬†Peel and slice up the pears. ¬†The pears don’t have to be as thin as the apples. ¬†Add the sugar to the mixture. ¬†Add a little cinnamon and/or nutmeg at this time. ¬†I like to cook all of this together while the apples and pears are cooking down so they absorb the sugar and spice into the fruit. ¬†You can always go back and add more in the end.

Step 2:  Place just a little water in the pot.  This helps the apples and pears not burn before they boil down.  You will find that the pears have a really high water content, so beware because this will add a lot of water to your Pear Apple Sauce mixture.

Step 3:  Boil down for roughly 15 minutes or until the apples break down.  Take a potato masher and mash the Pear Apple Sauce until all of the apples are mashed up.

Homemade-Pear-Applesauce-Artzy Creations 3

You can freeze this for up to 3 months in the freezer.  I put these in small size glass containers for my daughters.  I pull these out of the freezer the night before and keep them in the refrigerator until the next morning. Then I put them in their lunches. This way they  act like freezer packs to keep their lunches cold & they are completely thawed by lunch time.

Homemade-Pear-Applesauce-Artzy Creations 2

Your kids will love this and it’s definitely mom approved with only fruit and a little sugar. ¬† Gotta love that you know exactly what went into your Homemade Pear Apple Sauce. ¬†The best part is… it doesn’t take but a little peeling and cutting. ¬†That’s pretty much it. ¬†I think you’ll love how quick and easy it is. ¬†It’s one of my kids all new favorites. They call it “P-apple Sauce” ūüôā

Roasted Garlic Bread

Hello Artzy Creations! I have a tasty recipe for you today that is so easy and will have you kitchen smelling like a gourmet heaven in 5 minutes! Kids can help with spoon the melted garlic butter over the bread and wrap it up in foil before you put it in the oven. Serve it with spaghetti and meatballs and the kiddos will go crazy for it. I always used bread as the incentive for my kids to finish their veggies, and this bread will have them gobbling their veggies to get to this tasty Roasted Garlic Bread. One whiff of this Roasted Garlic Bread and you will not care what is for dinner, you will just want to dig in and tear it apart.Butter, garlic and a saucepan definitely rate at the top of my list for most creative gifts I have ever seen given at a bridal shower. The bride was puzzled, and the experienced homemaker explained to the bride to be that if she ever needed to buy some time while figuring out what she was going to make for dinner, she just sautéed some garlic and no one would ask questions. The smell of garlic and butter fooled her family into thinking she had something delicious coming. In my family the smell of garlic and butter creates the opposite reaction. Instead of stopping questions, it gets everyone asking when it will be ready! Luckily this Roasted Garlic Bread takes 20 minutes to make! Super easy, super simple, and whenever I make it, it is the most popular thing on the dinner table.
One whiff of this Roasted Garlic Bread and you will not care what is for dinner, you will just want to dig in and tear it apart.Did you know that it is garlic season right now? Garlic is ready to harvest between late June to late August. I used to make road trips through Gilroy, CA in the summer. Driving through Gilroy you would take absolutely no notice, you wouldn’t even know you were driving through a town, if it weren’t for the smell. Gilroy is the Garlic capitol of the world. Of the WORLD! And this little town sporting a population of about 50,000 smells like the garlic capitol of the world. If it weren’t for the garlic, I would say blink and you’ll miss it. But if you have a nose, you can’t miss it, eyes closed or not.One whiff of thisRoasted Garlic Bread and you will not care what is for dinner, you will just want to dig in and tear it apart. The smell of saut√©ing garlic really does let you know that something delicious is on its way. One whiff of this bread and you will not care what is for dinner, you will just want to dig in and tear it apart. I served Roasted Garlic Bread with Italian Salad and Creamy Basil Ranch Dressing last week and the combination was amazing.

Roasted Garlic Bread
 • 1 lb loaf of Italian crusty bread
 • 1 1/2 sticks of butter (3/4 cup) melted
 • 1 head of garlic, peeled and minced
 1. Preheat oven to 375¬į.
 2. In a small saucepan, melt butter until golden brown. Add garlic and sauté on low for 5 minutes. When the garlic begins to smell sweet, becomes soft and turns pale yellow, it is ready. This gives the garlic that roasted flavor. Do not overcook or the garlic will become bitter.
 3. Cut loaf into 1/2 inch slices, leaving the bottom intact. By not cutting through the bottom, your loaf will hold together and the butter will drip to the bottom crust, which will bake up into a golden, buttery crisp, garlic heaven that Gilroy would be proud of!
 4. Lay loaf of bread on a sheet of foil large enough to wrap around the entire loaf. I use two sheets folded together using the same method as I use for my Oven Baked Bacon.
 5. Open each slice of bread and pour a tablespoon full of butter and garlic in each slice. In a thin stream slowly pour remaining butter and garlic over bread slices, letting the butter and garlic drizzle in.
 6. Wrap in foil and bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until garlic is fragrant and bread is warmed through and crusty.
 7. Remove foil and serve immediately.

Thank you Melanie for letting me come by and share a favorite recipe with you and your readers. Here are a few ideas for dessert!

Simple Blackberry Galette

Simple-Blackberry-Galette-Artzy Creations-7

Lately, I’ve been inspired by all of the fresh fruit desserts that I’ve been seeing. ¬†I’ve also been inspired because living outside of Seattle, all you have to do is walk a couple of steps down the street, and you’re literally surrounded by wild blackberries. Until moving here, I’d never seen anything like it. Well, they are currently in season and are so plentiful, I thought I had better make good use of them. A few weeks ago on our ¬†Awesome Things Tuesday Link Party, we¬†featured a recipe for Easy Strawberry Peach Crostata by Growing Up Gabel and ¬†I just new had to try my own. So, you’re probably wondering why I called mine a Galette versus calling it a Crostata. ¬†After doing a little research, I found out that they’re very similar. ¬†Crostata in Italian means tart. ¬†However, a galette is also a tart, but is also a free form tart. ¬†A crostata doesn’t have to be free form and can also be made in a tin tart. ¬†Well,¬†since this is a recipe is for a very simple rustic tart that requires very few ingredients, I adapted it¬†to make it so quick and simple, ¬†that you will¬†still have plenty of time remaining to really enjoy those remaining long summer days. ¬†Let’s get started:

Simple Balckberry Galette:

 • (3) cups Blackberries
 • 2- 1/4 tablespoons White Sugar
 • 1/8 teaspoon Cinnamon
 • (1) Egg
 • Pinch of Nutmeg
 • Premade Refrigerated Pie Crust

Simple-Blackberry-Galette-Artzy Creations-1

Step 1:  Thoroughly wash the blackberries.

Simple-Blackberry-Galette-Artzy Creations-2

Step 2:  Mix two tablespoons sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of nutmeg.  Reserve the 1/4 teaspoon to sprinkle onto the crust.

Step 3: ¬†Use a little flour and spread it¬†over¬†your working surface. ¬†You don’t need a lot. ¬†Just enough¬†to prevent the pie crust from sticking to your surface. Unroll the pie crust.

Simple-Blackberry-Galette-Artzy Creations-3

Step 4:  Put the berries in the middle of the pie crust.

Simple-Blackberry-Galette-Artzy Creations-4

Step 5:  Take and fold the edges up and overlap them as you work your way around the galette.  Beat one egg and apply an egg wash to the pie crust. Bake on 350 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes until the crust is golden brown.  Serve warm with ice cream.

You can’t go wrong with this recipe. ¬†Because it’s so quick (and beautiful looking) it’s definitely a must try. ¬†My family really ¬†loved it served warm¬†with just a little Vanilla¬†ice cream!

This is hands down the one of the yummiest and easiest desserts out there to make. ¬†Your kids will flip over this. ¬†I didn’t realize how big of a hit this would be with my kids. Moist Lemon Cake Recipe

Hello, Tracy here, I’m back from Made From Pinterest to share with you the most amazing Moist Lemon Cake Recipe. This recipe is famous at my house, even my daughter who doesn’t like cake loves this Moist Lemon Cake!

When we found out that my daughter had Celiac Disease our lives were turned upside down until we learned how to eat gluten free. It didn’t take too long for us to learn how to convert many of our favorite recipes to gluten free.

I’m one of those people who happens to love all things lemon so I couldn’t pass up converting this recipe to gluten free. I was pretty sure my non-cake loving daughter would pass when asked to give it a try. She very nonchalantly grabbed a fork and took a bite.

A surprised smile spread across her face and she said “mom, this cake is awesome”! I was shocked and tickled to see her eat not one but two pieces!

Usually we make it in a 9×13 cake pan but I recently purchased a five layer cake pan kit from Wilton and made it with those pans. Now our Moist Lemon Cake tastes decadent and looks elegant!
