Candy Corn Craft

Candy Corn Craft_Final Now that Fall has officially arrived  and the weather in Washington is getting cooler and rainy, my kids have been looking for more indoor activities. If your are too, here is a fun one… my Candy Corn Craft! It’s fun and I’ve helped make it even more simple by providing you with two easy to use printable templates! Materials Needed:

  • 8 1/2 X 11″ Printer Paper
  • Tag board or Bristol board
  • White, Yellow and Orange Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue or Glue Stick
  • Markers or crayons- Optional

Step 1: Download the FREE PRINTABLESParts 1  &  Part 2 .   Then, print them out. Glue the printed sheet of paper with the candy corn shape to the heavier weight paper. This will help it hold it’s shape and not wrinkle so much.

Candy Corn Craft_Strips   Step 2:  Cut 1/2″  wide strips of construction paper.  Do this for all three colors.

Candy Corn Craft_Torn Pieces Step 3:  Tear the strips so you have squares or rectangles. It’s easier to glue them in place if you keep them sorted.

Step 4:  Take the pieces of torn construction paper and have your child begin gluing them in place. If you really want the colors to work out like the candy, start with yellow at the bottom, orange in the middle and white at the top, otherwise, let your child take some artistic liberty 🙂

Step 5:  You can also glue these to a piece of heavier paper. Then, have your child color the eyes and mouths, and cut them out. Combining the different eyes and mouths was my daughter’s favorite part. Once they have a combination they like, they can glue them in place.

Once the entire craft has dried, have them cut the candy corn shape out and you have a fun, home made Fall or Halloween Decoration that kept your kids occupied… for at least a  little bit!
